Food Allergies on the Rise in United States

According to the Centers for Disease Control, nearly 3 million children, or 1 in 26, were determined to have food allergies in 2007. In 1997, 1 in 30 kids had a food allergy. This increase may be due to rising milk, peanut, and egg allergies; however, many more parents are aware that food allergies are a potential cause of their child’s sickness, and they are often taking their children to specialists. The results of this study may be biased. This is because it involved door-to-door surveys of parents rather than checking medical records and asking if a doctor had diagnosed the allergy.
